JANEY CRIBBIN

MANCUNIA UGLY

Graduating with a BA Hons Fashion at Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University, Janey Cribbin is an award-winning designer with sustainability incorporated throughout her work. Fusing prints, a keen eye for texture and up-cycled fabrication, Janey sources many of her materials from deadstock and waste products, including discarded car interiors.

“I’m a true northern born and bred fashion designer with an obsession for the excessive. Specialising in Menswear throughout university with a focus on maximalist textile design; I unravelled my passion for loud, obnoxious and repetitive print which has fed my design work continuously throughout my practice.

The classic car industry together with JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) car culture has been a pinnacle point of my personal life for many years. With a strong interest in classic car upholstery, I blur the lines between fashion products and decorative automotive interiors.”

Janey’s brand label Mancunia Ugly is a unisex multi-product brand that prides itself on the distasteful. From wacky leather bags, classic car upholstery made jackets to modular hoods, collars and customising footwear, Mancunia Ugly ensures quality fabrications, hardware and craftsmanship are at the forefront of the design process.

Janey produces individual pieces to an exceptionally high standard of crafting; her skills are honed to perfection and is an exceptional multi-talented designer. Along side running her label Mancunia Ugly, Janey is eager to collaborate on creative installations with like-minded artists to fuse her passion to make a difference on everyday objects that surround us.

“I’M A LOUD, PROUD, AND BONKERS MANCUNIAN THROUGH AND THROUGH!” quotes Janey.
