Set amongst creative epicentre The Yard and Manchester’s fashion wholesale district, The Yard Atelier was founded upon both passion and experience. Our Community Interest Company (CIC) seeks to pass on skills to the next generation of fashion leaders, with firm belief that slow-made practices and bespoke design will be at the heart of this. Harnessing industry knowledge with a focus on innovative making, we aim to restore Manchester’s micro-manufacturing status, looking back to a time that cherished high-fashion and one-off design. Through reclaiming and evolving existing skills, our residents are set apart from today’s fast fashion market.
Amongst entrepreneurial and design-focused mentorship, collaborative practice, and industry-leading equipment, we are Manchester’s first in-house fashion incubator. In exposing our residents to each area of the industry, we welcome guest speakers, host workshops, and provide opportunities to showcase and sell their collections – supporting every step of their ventures into business.

We are equally excited to establish The Yard Atelier Fashion Archive, our first sponsor for this is Smart Works Greater Manchester #fashionasaforceforgood, and we have continued support from some of industries biggest suppliers of sustainable textiles and manufacturers.
