MAKE IT WET
Megan Hughes has established a women’s swimwear and lifestyle brand called MAKE IT WET, which has been inspired by her family’s historical legacy when her ancestors were fishermen in Anglesey, North Wales, and the local coastline was an important factor to support their way of life.
Megan is a Graduate in BA Hons Fashion from Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University.
Her family holidays since childhood were spent fishing, rock pooling and playing on the beaches, and today she still enjoys the pleasures of being on her Dad’s boat captivated by nature and all the surroundings of the coastal waters nearby.
MAKE IT WET is inspired by nature and vibrant prints taken from Megan’s own photography collections over the seasons which beautifully depicts the North Sea’s marine life, and embodies larger than life silhouettes capturing striking images which are featured on her swimwear and accessories for sale on her website.
Her unique vision and fearless approach aid her to design clothes that go beyond fashion and challenge norms and redefines the boundaries of style creating collections that the eye cannot ignore. Using deadstock fabrics together with locally sourced materials she elevates her innovative prints and makes all her items by hand from the pattern to the finished item. Re-using off-cuts, and recycled organic fabric Megan’s ongoing collections encapsulate sustainable sources, slowing down the making process which allows her time for reflection and appreciation for what she loves to create best. Her vision is stunning as are her swimwear pieces and her accessories which are unique to her own style.
Megan has established her label MAKE IT WET as a symbol of fearless fashion, a nod to her past heritage and a fusion of local inspiration with a twist of nautical empowerment. They sell out fast and you need to be quick to catch them!
